Gelsord

Gelsord is the regional capital of the Gelsland region. It is the scientific and technological centre of Sordland. The official motto is ‘Scientia enim est solum iter ante.’ It translates to 'science is the only way forward.' Located at the city centre is the Gelsord Research Council building. It is led by the rectors of the ten research institutes that are within the metro area. They have a big influence in the administration but are still under the Ministry of Education, Technology & Research led by the minister Ciara Walda. Right next to the G.R.C. is the Forum of Researchers, a cultural building that contains the second largest library in Sordland. Rumour has it that a secret underground military research facility exists somewhere here. The city also inhibits many new companies that focus on electronics, energy and military technologies. They manufacture telephones, radios, cameras and many other technologies which are sold all over the country and even exported abroad. Therefore, even though the population living in the city is not large the GDP per capita is very high. This attracts accomplished students who are adept in the technology field. That’s why if the smartest aren’t going to Gelsord they are likely to be going abroad either to United Contana or Arcasia.
