Estela Toras

Queen Mother Estela Toras (nee Bartos) is the mother of King Romus Toras and the widow of the late King Valero Toras.

Born into a fishing family in the harbor district of Zille, she moved to Porte Drazon in her late teens. She found work waitressing at the Sunset Lounge, a cocktail bar frequented by the city's wealthy elite. It was there that she met Valero Toras. Their courtship and subsequent marriage was the subject of much scandal among Rizian royals and the general public, with rampant speculation that Valero would be disinherited as heir to the throne. Surprisingly, Queen Lyza was able to persuade the Royal Council to approve of the marriage, and bestowed noble status on Estela and her parents in order to legitimize the union.

As Queen Consort, her gregarious charm and daring fashion sense gradually won over the public, especially abroad. However, she could not fully escape accusations of "vulgarity" by the press, and was said to be disliked by most members of House Toras.
