Bergia

Region of Bergia
Region of Bergia

Bergia is the only landlocked region of Sordland, bordering the regions of Nargis, Gelsland and Greater Holsord, as well as the countries of Wehlen, Lespia and Rumburg. Its capital is Deyr. Bergia is the third largest region of Sordland’s seven regions and the second most populous, with more than 6 million inhabitants.

The region is also sometimes called by its old name in Bludish, ‘Bludia.’ Bergia encompasses most of the geographical region of Greater Bludia, but excludes Bludish areas which today lie in the northern parts of Wehlen and Lespia. It’s home to the largest number of Bludish people in Sordland, which is also the biggest minority in the country.

Bergia has a vibrant economy, but remains among the regions with the highest unemployment rate. It contains a vast amount of farm fields and its economy relies heavily on agriculture, mining and steel manufacturing. The Bergia Steel Corporation is the biggest business that operates in the region. The Soll Dam, which powers up almost a third of Sordland is also located here.

Bergia is a popular destination due to having the Archsanctuary of Descension in Deyr, a sacred spot for the followers of the Dastrunity faith.

Bergia is surrounded by mountains from almost all sides, with Bergia mountains in the north between Nargis, Gumren and Taurus mountains along the western border with Wehlen, and Maradun mountains along the southern border with Lespia. Huge river deltas between the mountains are filled with cities and farmlands. A large part of the Maris forest is also located in the region, starting from the north of Sarna to Gelsord.
