Soll Dam
The Soll Dam (also called Erzaren Soll Dam) is the largest source of hydroelectricity in Sordland. The construction was started by order of President Tarquin Soll in 1933 as a solution to the energy crisis that had existed in the region for decades and to reduce the nationโs dependence on foreign energy. The contracts for constructing the facility were given to the Sordish State Corporation, the Sordish Grid Corporation, and Gasom. The project was plagued with controversy and political problems due to the site being home to an old Bludish village called Izzam, which needed to be flooded for the dam to be built. In the construction process, the local people of Izzam were forcefully relocated, and the village was razed, causing a backlash from the local population and the Watchtower of Human Rights. During the divisive relocation event, many Bludish locals came to protest and tried to stop the construction from starting. In the protests, a soldier fired his rifle, killing a local Bludish man named Watani Aschraf. This event, also known as the โIzzam Incident,โ caused turmoil in the region and led to the formation of the armed Bludish resistance movement called the โBludish Freedom Front.โ The dam opened three years after the tragic event. Despite the tumultuous events, it proved to be a huge political success for Tarquin Soll in the following years especially praised by the majority of the country living in urban areas that faced blackouts. The countryโs electricity output tripled, and the dam lake formed was named Soll. Today, it continues to fill the demand of the Bergia and Nargis regions with a majority and the rest of the nation.
