Rizian Armed Forces

The Rizian Armed Forces (RAF) are the military forces of the Kingdom of Rizia. Headquartered in Montaklar, they consist of the General Staff, the Land Forces, the Naval forces and the Air Forces. They are currently led by General Carlos Azaro, cousin of War and Security Councilor Lucita Azaro. Both the Chief of the General Staff and the War and Security Councilor may have their authority overridden by the King or Queen of Rizia.

An equal number of recruits are conscripted from each of Rizia's four provinces. Montaklar, Brenas and Valenqiris each have their own specialized military forces as well, answerable to the Duke or Duchess of the province in question.

While the RAF boasts top-notch training facilities, it is considered one of the smallest and weakest militaries on the Merkopan continent. Experts have pointed to the military mutiny that sparked the Uprising of 1926 as the main reason for the Rizian government's reluctance to invest in expanding its armed forces' numbers and weapons capabilities.
