Leiren

Situated on the hilly and shrub filled Gruni countryside is Leiren. One finds solitude here is unlike any other place. It’s not about the geography but about the philosophy. Upon entrance one notices that life flows much slower. People aren’t stressed, nor much concerned about what is happening in the country or in the world.

The city is famous for the variety of healing herbs it grows thanks to the unique climate conditions. These vital ingredients are sold to pharmacies in the region and beyond.

The idea of the slow city came from the successful mayor Delmond Locke. His municipal administration set a new standard on how to properly utilize city funds to the benefit of the people. Instead of wasting funds on luxurious cars, bodyguards and estates, he spent them on aiding the poor, building more recreational areas and reducing the price of local public transport.

Within one-decade the amount of people coming to the city tripled the ones leaving. Leiren became the quiet alternative to Benfi.
