House Azaro
House Azaro is the ruling family of the city of Montaklar and the province of Cardesse-Montaklar. It is the second most powerful of Rizia's three noble houses. Its sigil is a pair of crossed swords. Its members are descended from Duke Bredus Azaro, himself a descendent of Rizia's original ruling family the Reznas. He was granted control over the province of Montaklar following the founding of the Kingdom of Rizia; the family's rule later extended to the neighboring Cardesse region. The Azaro family established close ties with the neighboring Empire of Moridia as well as the ruling Rubaz family; though several daughters married Rubaz princes, the family never managed to take the throne. It came the closest during the War of Rizian Succession, when Duke Domus Azaro and his wife Ana vied for control over the kingdom with Rizia's two other royal houses. In the war's early days, the couple founded a military training camp in the mountains next to their fortress; this is now Camp Domus, Rizia's largest army base. Since the end of the war, a member of House Azaro has served as the country's War and Security Councilor. In addition to their contributions to the Rizian military, the Azaros have made heavy investments in technology and manufacturing.
