Erlory



Erlory is the fourth largest city in the Greater Holsord region. It is most famous for its role as the old capital. Sadly, most of the grandeur of the Markian Empire's beating heart has faded away, due to several sackings that left many of the historical buildings destroyed. Nonetheless, thanks to a revival by construction companies from Holsord, the castles, palaces and villas have been mostly restored. The beautiful Gothic Revival architecture of these few but beautifully restored buildings revive the old Markian feel.

Erlory is also considered to be the capital of Sordish alcohol for its famous vineyards and whiskey distilerries. Geographically, the city is situated on a high delta with fertile ground, invigorated by the Ungur River, which also gives life to many of its vineyards and hop farms.

Erlory is famous for producing some of the best wines of Sordland and their competition with wines from Borin. The city, however, is mostly known for the dozens of whiskey distilleries that create different variations of the Erlory Maroon, which are internationally renowned. The Erlory Maroon is one of the few whiskeys that make it to the international whiskey championships.

Additionally, the large Mark Air Force Base and the Air Force Academy employ many Erloryans, which occasionally get annoyed by the constant sound of jets buzzing right outside the city. In the last few decades, Lespian oligarchs started to buy expensive housing in the area. This has caused somewhat of a gentrification that has become a big debate topic for the city.
