The Reclamation War

1min

The Reclamation War, spanning from 1923 to 1926, was a significant military conflict between the Kingdom of Rizia and the Grand Duchy of Pales. The war began under the reign of King Valero of Rizia, with the Rizian military led by General Taddeus Azaro. Their objective was to reclaim all territories of Pales, aiming to reintegrate historically Rizian lands that had become economically vital. On the Palesian side, Duke Njolma led the defense, staunchly resisting Rizian advances to maintain Palesian independence.

Throughout the conflict, both sides engaged in numerous battles, particularly concentrated in the southeastern cities where Palesian forces were strongest. The Republic of Lespia provided significant financial and military aid to the Grand Duchy of Pales, bolstering its defense against Rizian military efforts and playing a crucial role in sustaining Palesian resistance throughout the conflict. Despite Rizia's initial military push and successes, the war eventually reached a stalemate. Wit the Uprising of 1926, the fighting concluded with an unspoken peace and a permanent ceasefire, leaving the territorial disputes unresolved.

This end result solidified Pales' status as an independent entity and led to significant political changes in Rizia, including shifts towards semi-constitutional reforms to stabilize the kingdom post-war.
