Special Zone of Bergia

1min

The Special Zone of Bergia is a special administrative region in Sordland, covering the entirety of the region of Bergia. The headquarters of the zone is at Deyr and it's governed by an appointed governor, a special administrative position that only exists in Bergia. The current governor is Phelix Bron. Established during the critical era of President Tarquin Soll's emergency security program in 1935, the formation of the Special Zone was a direct response to the belligerence unleashed by the notorious Dewlen Arge and his declaration of war against the Sordish Republic. The zone was formed and structured specifically to counter the threat of the Bludish rebels and to ensure the suppression of the secessionist aspirations. While adhering to the overarching principles outlined in the Sordish constitution, the Special Zone exercises a certain degree of autonomy in matters of internal security. This entails complete control over its allocated security budget and the establishment of a specialized security force, known as the Bergian Security Force. Guided by its own set of civil and security policies, the regional authority operates within the boundaries prescribed by the Constitution. Contrary to the other regions of Sordland, the Special Zone does not conduct local elections. Instead, the pivotal responsibility for regional governance resides solely in the hands of the governor, who is appointed by the president every 6 years.
