Orso Hawker
Orso Hawker is a Sordish politician, jurist and the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Sordland since 1937. He graduated from Imperial Markian University in 1903 with a degree on legal theory. Later on, he started working as a public prosecutor and then as a judge at the local district court of Erlory until the fall of the Kingdom of Sordland. During the first government of the republic, he started working at the Ministry of Justice, where he became an assistant and contributed to legislative planning and constitutional law.
He joined USP after the coup in 1929 and was elected as a member of the assembly. He was known to have close ties with President Tarquin Soll, who appointed him as a judge of the 2nd Supreme Court in 1933. After the death of the first Chief Justice Gregor Marcia, Orso was elected to his position by the court in 1937.
The Hawker Court handed down several landmark rulings that significantly transformed criminal procedure, taxes, and other areas of the law. Many of the Court's decisions incorporated highly controversial policies of Tarquin Soll, including the approval of the Security Package Laws and ruling that the Bludish Freedom Party entering the elections was unconstitutional, effectively removing the Bludish identity from politics.
As a staunch establishment supporter, he represents the majority of the Supreme Court and he is regarded by some as the most powerful and divisive figure in Sordish politics.
