Helji Island Invasion

The Helji was invaded by an opportunist Agnolian Prime Minister in the late 1920s, when the Empire of Valgos was going through a revolution. The Agnolian's had lost the island several hundred years ago when they sold it for a large sum of gold in order to pay their debts.

The Prime Minister at the time justified the invasion by citing the safety concerns of Agnolian citizens who still lived in the island. After the revolution ended the newly formed government of Valgsland focused on their new form of government instead of retaking the island. The action is regarded as the most successful land grab in recent history after the annexation of Dome by Rumburg.

To many Agnolian's Helji Island remains a matter of national pride, and what a small country can achieve against a much stronger foe.
