Deyr
Deyr, a city positioned on a fertile river delta, and its neighboring villages, contribute to a substantial portion of Sordland's agricultural yield. The Taurus mountains channel several rivers down to this region, thereby creating extensive farmlands that span across the horizon. The cityscape of Deyr, which possesses one of the largest metropolitan areas in the nation, comprises three administrative divisions: Old Deyr, New Deyr, and the Outer Farmlands. New Deyr, established in 1911, functions as an Agro-City, conceived as a collective agricultural experiment on an urban scale. The initiative was executed by Heron Walt, the economic advisor to the Kingdom of Sordland, and drew its original inspiration from Valgsland. Featuring an exemplary agricultural infrastructure network, The Grand Bazaar of Deyr stands as a testament to the city's agrarian focus, effectively channeling goods from the farms to businesses or inhabitants. Located near the city centre, adjacent to the massive Grand Bazaar, is the towering Archsanctuary of Descension, the city's highest structure. This revered Dastnurity shrine attracts pilgrims from all across Sordland, adding to the city's spiritual significance. Not far off, the University of Culture and Nature can be found, further enhancing the city's cultural appeal. Old Deyr, in stark contrast to its newer counterpart, preserves a sense of timeless charm. Despite the passing centuries, this area continues to shelter an array of settlers with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. Landmarks such as the ancient Garden City of Crest and the Temple of Valangir, albeit mostly in ruins, offer glimpses into the past, inspiring its industrious and steadfast inhabitants. Ethnic diversity defines Deyr, rendering it one of Sordland's most heterogenous cities. New Deyr mostly hosts ethnic Sords, while minority ethnic groups find their home in Old Deyr, where a large Bludish population lives alongside thousands of Wehzeks, Lespians, Derdians and even Old Sords practicing traditional lifestyles. Despite its vibrant multiculturalism, the city grapples with undercurrents of ethnic and religious tension, a common challenge for such a diverse region.
